Braking is one of the essential aspects of a motorcycle, a section of special importance on which our physical integrity depends, but which we often tend to neglect.<\/p>\n

The braking system, as a general rule and in most motorcycles, consists of:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Fre pump, located on the handlebars or right pedal.<\/li>\n
  2. Tube (better known as “hose”) that can be metal or rubber.<\/li>\n
  3. Fre Fre pinchers<\/li>\n
  4. Freeze-dried pills<\/li>\n
  5. Fre Discs<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    A liquid (brake fluid) is the one in charge of making the brake calipers stop when we activate the brake pump, causing the friction of the brake pads with the discs, slowing down or slowing down the speed of the bike.<\/p>\n

    All these elements are subject to work stresses and temperature changes that cause them to wear out, so we must check them frequently to be sure that the bike will brake when we need it.<\/p>\n

    When do we have to replace each element?<\/h2>\n
      \n
    1. The brake fluid must be replaced, at most, every 2 years, it is recommended to replace it every year.<\/li>\n
    2. The clamps, the freezing pump and the pipe that connects the system are the elements of the assembly that have a superior durability so that it will be sufficient to perform a visual inspection periodically to ensure that there are no leaks and, in the case of the freezing clamps, it will be important to clean them at least every time we change the freezing pads to prevent the pistons from getting blocked.<\/li>\n
    3. The freewheel discs, as a consequence of the friction they suffer with the freewheel pads, wear out and lose their thickness, but this is not the only reason why we have to change them, because in certain circumstances they may have been exposed to situations for which they were not designed, in certain circumstances, they may have been exposed to situations for which they were not designed, becoming deformed due to having suffered an excess of temperature (for example, caused by inadequate brake pads).<\/li>\n
    4. The brake pads are the element that has the most wear of the set although the frequency with which we have to change them will depend on very diverse factors such as the type of motorcycle, the style of driving or the composition of the pads, among others.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      How can we check the status of the freewheel discs of our motorcycle?<\/h2>\n

      In the face of normal wear, we can check the thickness of the freewheel disc with a reed. The freewheel usually has an inscription indicating the service limit, so if the thickness is lower than indicated, we must replace the discs. <\/p>\n

      It is also possible that the discs are within the indicated limits but when braking we feel a vibration, caused by a deformation of the discs.<\/p>\n

      It is recommended to change the fre tablets every time we have to change the discs.<\/p>\n

      How can we check the status of the brake pads of our motorcycle?<\/h2>\n

      We can take advantage of this when we are nearting the bike or when we check the tire pressures to give the freewheels a little bit of a boost. To overuse them can not only be dangerous but can also cause other damages due to the friction of the metal support of the brake pads that is exposed when the friction compound is finished, affecting the brake discs. <\/p>\n

      To check them we only have to look through the back part of the fre clamp and we will see how much material is left up to the metal support.<\/p>\n
