Braking properly on a motorcycle is one of the most important tasks that we have to carry out when we start in the world of two wheels. Today we explain you the correct way so that you don’t get into trouble.
How to brake your motorcycle correctly
Our motorcycles have brakes on both wheels but this does not imply that both perform braking in the same way. We have to keep in mind that when braking with a motorcycle it is the front brake that will be the main brake to know how to brake with a motorcycle.
This means that our front brake will absorb a large amount of energy when braking, so we must always keep it ready. On the other hand, although current motorcycles include ABS system that prevents the brake from locking, it is important that we control the force we apply on it, as we can lose steering if we manage to lock it (especially in older motorcycles).
The rear brake, on its part, completes a fundamental function, to maintain the braking balance. Both brakes together ensure that the braking is in a straight line and all two lines follow a trajectory.
Correct braking requires that we brake lightly on the rear before applying fre on the front. With this we will ensure that the bike does not over-brake the rear and that the braking is balanced.
It is important that our braking is smooth and progressive, although sometimes, for reasons of necessity, we brake more abruptly.
How to stop when it plummets?
When we are faced with slippery surfaces we have to change the way we approach braking. We must increase our anticipation time and brake progressively. With this we avoid losing grip and losing control of our bike.
