How to break-in your motorcycle’s brake pads

If you have just changed the brake pads on your motorcycle, you can’t just hit the road. To get the best performance out of them, you need a good break-in, a process that improves grip and prevents premature wear.

Why is filming important?

New pads have a surface layer that must be gradually worn away to adapt to the disc and brake efficiently. If you don’t do it right, you can reduce its effectiveness and shorten its service life.

Steps for a perfect shooting

  1. Avoid hard braking for the first 50 km, make smooth and progressive braking.
  2. Avoid overheating them. Use the brakes sparingly and give the pads time to settle and cool down when needed.
  3. After about 50 km, you can start braking normally and get the maximum performance from your new pads.

Proper break-in improves safety and prolongs the life of your braking system. Give it the time it needs and you’ll notice the difference in every brake application.
