How to break in your bike’s freewheel pads

If you’ve just changed the brake pads on your bike, you can’t just hit the road. To get the best performance, you need a good break-in, a process that improves grip and prevents premature wear.

Why is filming important?

The new pads have a surface layer that has to wear gradually to adapt to the disc and brake efficiently. If this is not done properly, their efficiency can be reduced and their useful life shortened.

Steps for a perfect shooting

  1. Avoid abrupt braking in the first 50 km, make smooth and progressive braking.
  2. Avoid overcooking them. Use the fridge in moderation and give the pills time to settle and cool down when needed.
  3. After about 50 km, you can brake normally and have the maximum performance in your new pills.

Correct braking improves safety and extends the life of your braking system. Give it the time it needs and you will feel the difference in every braking.
